Hey everyone! I've been dealing with frequent BSODs on my computer and have tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps, but nothing seems to fix it. I looked through a Microsoft forum thread for guidance, but I'm still stuck. Here's a quick summary of what's been happening:
- The BSODs occur randomly, and I get various error messages, but frustratingly, there's no minidump file created.
- I've updated all my drivers and the BIOS, and even did a clean install of Windows (while copying my user folder), but the problems persist.
- When a BSOD strikes, it seems like my SSD disconnects, displaying a "boot device not found" message. I can run tests, but it says no storage is detected. Strangely, if I just restart, everything boots up normally again.
- I checked the drive with CrystalDiskInfo and tested the memory with MemTest86, and both came back clear.
I'm pondering whether to consult a tech support pro, since they have great reviews and it might save me time. But I'd like to go in with a decent understanding of the issue, just in case it's something simple.
From what I gather, the SSD connection might be faulty, leaning towards a hardware failure. But I'm also worried that copying over my user folder during the reinstall might have carried some config issue making the reinstall not as clean as it should have been. Do you think that's a possibility? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! First off, it sounds like you've done quite a bit already. Getting those minidump files is crucial, as they hold the key to diagnosing BSODs. If you can boot into Windows normally or through Safe Mode, check the folder at C:WindowsMinidump for any crash logs. If you find any, zip them up and share them using a good file hosting service like catbox.moe or mediafire.com since Reddit doesn’t take kindly to file hosts. If you're short on dump files, make sure to adjust your settings to allow small memory dumps – and don't worry, they'll keep accumulating without overwriting. Good luck!
Honestly, guessing won't get you far. Just share whatever crash dumps you've got so you can find the real cause. It seems like there are several things that can prevent minidumps from generating, like not enough disk space or if your storage is encrypted. If your SSD keeps disconnecting during the BSOD, that’s a strong indication that it's faulty. Running a tool to gather system logs might also help in figuring this out.
Thanks for your input! I would love to share the dumps, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to generate any. I'm struggling with settings for the memory dump; I switched it to "Kernel memory dump" hoping to catch something, but no luck. I ensured there's plenty of storage space, and I even checked my page file size. I think BitLocker is active, but I've used the factory settings, so I'm not entirely sure. How would I check if that's causing the issue?
