Hey everyone! I've got a PC with plenty of storage options—I'm using four M.2 drives that work just fine. But I've got this one HDD that's really been acting up over the last three weeks. I mainly use it for movies, TV shows, and some old emulator games. Lately, it's been super slow to open anything, and sometimes it even tells me an app is already open when I know it's not! The only fix I've found is to restart my PC whenever I want to launch an emulator or a game. I tried formatting the drive using SeaTools, but it failed, and when I attempted it through disk management, it got stuck. Accessing pictures or videos from the HDD makes my entire computer sluggish until I close them. Just last week, Windows even prompted me to repair the HDD to boot up. Do you think my HDD is on its last legs? It's a Seagate 4TB model. Should I consider replacing it now or hold off?

Your PC might still be slow because the HDD isn’t properly formatted. You could use CrystalDiskMark to check the health of the drive. Also, running CHKDSK /F /R can help identify any bad sectors, which might be why it’s malfunctioning.
I will try the health check but the HDD keeps refusing to format no matter how many times I try.
I’ll try removing the HDD tomorrow to see if that changes anything! Thanks for the tip!
Looks like something’s really off with your drive if formatting through cmd throws an error. You might want to consider replacing it, especially if it’s having all these issues.
It definitely sounds like your HDD is causing the slowdown. My suggestion is to try removing the HDD from the setup and see how your PC performs without it—that should give you a clearer idea of whether it's the culprit or not.
