Could this strange white square on my desktop mean I’ve been hacked?

I was using my computer when I suddenly noticed a strange white square appeared on my desktop. I tried clicking on it, but it didn't respond, just showing a scrollbar at the top. I looked in Task Manager but couldn't identify what it was. Eventually, I pressed it and hit Alt+F4 to close it, but I'm not sure if I should be concerned. A couple of days ago, Microsoft Outlook also opened up on my desktop as a small square, but it had a title. This time, there wasn't any label at all. Should I be worried about all this?

When you hit Alt+F4, did you notice the shutdown panel appearing? If that didn’t show up, something might have closed unexpectedly. Just keep monitoring your system and watch out for anything unusual. If it is persistent, you might want to consult a tech expert.

I clicked on the white square and then hit Alt+F4, so I'm not sure what that means for sure.

That does sound a bit odd! It might be some kind of weird glitch. If you took a screenshot of the white square, maybe try sharing it with someone who knows about these things. Also, be cautious—think about whether you've clicked on any shady links or installed anything recent that might have caused this. Just to be safe!

Yeah, definitely keep an eye on your computer's behavior. If it keeps happening, you might want to run a full virus scan.
