Hey everyone, I'm really fed up with the coil whine issues I'm facing with my RTX 5090 cards. I've tested several MSI SUPRIMs and Gigabyte Aorus Masters because I've heard good things about their reliability with coil whine, but I haven't had much luck at all. My setup includes a new Seasonic Prime PX-1600 ATX 3.1 power supply. I want to avoid getting another SUPRIM since it only has mild coil whine when I'm just scrolling the mouse, but it gets super annoying under load. The AORUS cards I tried had similar thermal paste issues along with coil whine. I'm a bit skeptical about the ASUS Astral since I've seen many returns for that model due to coil whine problems. I've heard that the Astral LC OC model can be quite loud with extreme coil whine as well. Another option I'm contemplating is the MSI Vanguard SOC. Any suggestions or alternatives?

If the whine only happens when you're scrolling, consider lowering the polling rate of your mouse. That could help reduce the noise a bit. But, from what I've read, it's still pretty strong on the SUPRIMs even when under load.
Coil whine is honestly hit or miss. It's pretty much down to luck, and there's not much we can do to predict it. Some users have had success trying to tweak voltage or power settings, using a UPS, changing the outlet, or even altering the PSU. If it gets unbearable, some folks even resort to using epoxy on the coils. Otherwise, maybe invest in some good headphones or just try to live with it!
Haha, I feel you! Sometimes it really does feel like I'm just the unluckiest person ever.
Honestly, you might just want to accept that some level of coil whine is a given with GPUs these days, especially ones consuming around 600W. They really do tend to whine when under stress, even if you typically aren't hitting those numbers in usage.
True, but I usually undervolt and overclock, and I'm not even reaching those high power draws, yet the whine persists.

Yeah, adjusting the polling rate might help with scrolling, but I still heard pretty loud coil whine on SUPRIMs when they were pushed.
