Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a messy situation here with my PC. My specs are: an Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II motherboard, AMD Radeon 6700XT GPU, Ryzen CPU (sorry, can't remember the exact model), Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze PSU (which has been plugged into a surge protector for years), and an ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQMY monitor connected via HDMI.
So here's the deal: I came home to find that my rabbit managed to chew on my PSU cable. The chew marks weren't too bad, but they did reach the inner part of the cable. After this, I tried to turn on my PC, but my monitor didn't pick up any signal, and there was a bright white light on the "VGA" section of the motherboard—meaning it's not detecting the GPU.
I've tried some fixes like reseating the GPU, switching slots, and even removed the CMOS battery, but nothing worked. I also tested an old GPU, but it was the same deal—no detection. I'm starting to think it might be a PSU issue since the fans spin up, but the GPU just isn't getting enough power.
As for the monitor, it completely stopped recognizing any input. I tried it on different laptops and changed HDMI ports with no success. It makes me wonder if the rabbit chewing the cable caused a surge that fried the PSU and then in turn affected the monitor. The monitor was plugged into a different outlet too, so I'm uncertain if that contributed. I'm just a bit frustrated and would appreciate any insight or help. Thanks!

Hmm, I’m skeptical about the rabbit causing a power surge. I mean, where would that energy come from? Also, the PSU not powering the GPU seems strange. Usually, the GPU needs minimal power just to boot up.
I suspect there might be something malfunctioning in your monitor, which could have caused some issues through the HDMI and affected your GPU. Don't forget to try the other x16 slot for your GPU since it's wired differently.
Oh, and just a side note about your PSU: the Seasonic S12II isn't exactly the most reliable unit out there. Consider looking for an upgrade if things go south.
Good idea! Also, let me know if switching slots or cables helps out.
Hey there! First off, check those damaged cables closely! Use a flashlight to see if there’s any exposed metal or more chew marks anywhere. Also, if you have another PSU power cable, give that a shot.
You might also want to try connecting to the motherboard's graphics port. Just make sure your monitor input is set to the right one, like HDMI 1 or whatever port you’re using. And if you have any other cables, like a DisplayPort, those might work better too!
Let me know how that goes! Hoping for some good news!
Thanks for the tips! I tried replacing the power cord, but no luck. I've been meaning to test with the DisplayPort, so I'll do that next.
Thanks for the heads-up about the PSU! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I’ve already ordered a Corsair PSU to swap in tomorrow.
