Did I Choose the Right Cable for My Old Hard Drive and New Laptop?

I recently got an SSD enclosure and a cable to connect my old hard drive to my new laptop. The enclosure is working great, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to connect the cable to the drive itself. I can't seem to find where the cord attaches, and I'm hesitant to start moving things around too much. I've posted a picture for reference in the replies.

From what I see in the picture, it looks like you have the right setup, but you need to remove an adapter that's currently connected to the drive. It should come off without much fuss—just make sure you're careful with it. Once it's off, you can plug in your new cable directly to the drive. Just remember to discharge any static before touching the drive, and connect the USB to your laptop once everything's in place.

Looks like you got a solid cable, but that adapter on your hard drive needs to go. Just gently pull it out; there shouldn’t be any buttons to press, just wiggle it lightly until it comes free. After that, you can connect the new cable directly. Good luck!
