I'm in the process of building a new computer and want to reuse my current DDR4 RAM. However, I've seen conflicting information about whether it will work with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Can I use DDR4 with this CPU until prices drop, or will I need to buy new DDR5 RAM?

Absolutely not, the AM5 socket only works with DDR5 RAM. There's no motherboard that supports both DDR4 and AM5, so you'll have to invest in some DDR5 if you're going with that CPU.
Nope, you can't use DDR4 RAM with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This CPU requires DDR5, so while you might want to hold onto your existing RAM for a bit, you'll need to upgrade when you're ready to build this new system.

Yeah, and with RAM prices being so high right now, it's tough. I wouldn't recommend buying unless absolutely necessary. Maybe check out local shops or second-hand options instead!
