Hey everyone! I recently picked up a used graphics card and was told it was a standard RX 580 8GB. I paid about $77.50 USD for it, which is the same price my friend paid for a regular RX 580 at another shop. However, after checking in GPU-Z, I found out that mine is actually the RX 580 2048SP version. I'm wondering a few things here: 1) Comparing to my friend's purchase, do you think I've been scammed? 2) For someone interested in Unreal Engine 5 game development, how does the performance differ between my RX 580 2048SP and a standard RX 580? And 3) With my Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, what can I expect in terms of gaming and running basic UE5 projects?

I'd say you were slightly misled. There's a small performance dip compared to the full RX 580, but $77.50 isn't a bad price for what you got. Just be cautious moving forward!
If the shop didn't specify that you were buying the 2048SP when they sold it as a standard RX 580, it could be seen as a scam, especially if they knew the difference. Just so you know, your card is pretty similar to an RX 570 with less support for future drivers.
Yeah, I had no idea about the differences, and I thought I was getting a good deal. I guess I just trusted them.
The RX 580s generally struggle with Unreal Engine 5, so don't expect too much. Just so you know, turning off Nanite and Lumen can help you maintain higher FPS, but it might still be a challenge depending on what you’re working on.
I’m hitting around 120 FPS after turning those off, but I'm worried about performance once I add more assets.
Honestly, they're different cards, but I wouldn't say you were scammed outright. It's just a different version, and the RX 580 2048SP is still pretty decent.
But I had no clue this card even existed until I started digging! Don't you think the shopkeeper should have been clearer?
For gaming, expect to hit around 60 FPS on modern titles at 1080p on low settings. If your monitor's on the lower side, like 900p, you'll probably be okay with that.
Exactly! I have a 900p monitor too, so hitting 60 FPS is fine for me.

Alright, I'll take it as a learning experience. Just wish I had more knowledge before buying!
