Did I Make the Right Choice Upgrading to an RTX 5070?

I've been gradually upgrading my PC since around mid-2020. Initially, I had an R5 3600, 16GB DDR4-3600, and an RTX 2060 Super. Now, I've upgraded to an R9 5950x and 32GB DDR4-3600, and I've finally saved up enough for a new GPU. I ended up purchasing the RTX 5070 for €654, but I've seen discussions suggesting that it's only worth it at MSRP and that I might have been better off with the 4070, 4070 Super, or 4080, which are priced at roughly €590, €680, and €1300 respectively in my region. I'm confident in my decision, but I'd love to hear some second opinions on whether I made the right call or if I should have gone for something else.

If it feels like a good upgrade for your setup, then it is! Everyone has opinions on the 'best' choices, but ultimately, you know what fits your needs better than anyone else. And let’s be honest, the 5070 is great if you’re not planning on making drastic upgrades anytime soon. Enjoy your games!

Thanks! That sounds like a solid approach to it!

For sure! Gamers are sometimes overly critical, but if you're enjoying the card, that's what counts.

In my opinion, you're fine with the 5070 at that price, especially since you're comparing it to cards that might not give you much more for the extra cost. Just keep in mind, it’s a good option for 1440p gaming. As long as it meets your performance expectations, you're set!

That's a fair point. I guess if it works for my games, it’s all that matters!

True! The experience is what counts, so if you’re happy, that’s what matters.

Just enjoy your new GPU! At the end of the day, it's about whether it makes you happy. Don't spend too much time worrying if you made the 'right call'—just have fun with it!

Honestly, I get that. I sometimes overthink my purchases too, but it feels good to embrace the upgrade!

For real! Sometimes you just gotta dive in and enjoy your rig.

It really comes down to what you need it for. If you're doing work that benefits from CUDA, then the 5070 is likely a good fit. Sure, you might have options like getting a 5070 Ti or looking at used cards, but each has its pros and cons based on your workload and budget. Plus, if you’re happy with the performance, then you made the right choice!

Right! I think it’s important to focus on how the card performs for your specific needs.

Exactly! Everyone's situation is different—it’s all about what makes sense for you.
