Hey everyone! I just got a refurbished EliteBook x360 1030 G3 for about $600. It's in near-new condition and came with a 3-year warranty. I mainly do audio editing, browsing, and some programming. Do you think I made a good purchase? Here are the specs:
- Intel Core i7-8550U 1.8 GHz (up to 4 GHz Turbo)
- 4 processor cores
- 6 MB Intel Smart Cache
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM
- 256 GB SSD
- Intel UHD Graphics 620

It's a mixed bag. For most tasks like browsing and programming, your laptop should do fine since those aren't too demanding. But if you're working with audio editing, you might want to check Adobe Audition's recommended specs. They suggest 16 GB of RAM for HD media and 32 GB for 4K. Luckily, your laptop meets the minimum CPU requirements, so it might be okay, but just keep those RAM requirements in mind if you plan on more intensive editing.
Honestly, I think you might have overpaid for that laptop. The i7-8550U is from 2018 and there are cheaper options out there with better specs. Like, you could find laptops for around $180 that offer more power. Check out eBay, they have deals that are way better in terms of price-to-performance ratio. If you want a decent 2-in-1 laptop, I’d recommend looking into Ryzen processors—they're more powerful and better priced.
Thanks for the info! I looked into it, but shipping to Sweden is a hassle and the local prices are much higher, unfortunately.
I appreciate the insight! Just trying to gauge if my purchase was reasonable in the long run.
