I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and attempted to connect it to an old LaCie external hard drive, but it didn't work. Thinking it was a good idea (I know, dumb move), I plugged my 65W laptop charger into the LaCie while my laptop was still connected. Suddenly, the screen went black and now it won't turn on at all. I'm worried I messed it up for good, especially since I need this laptop for my upcoming exams. Did I accidentally cook my laptop?

Unless you literally cooked it in an oven or something, you probably didn't destroy it. But that plug-in was risky. You might have damaged the external drive if it couldn't handle the voltage. Just reconnect the charger to the laptop and see if it powers on again. If it does, maybe remove the battery and try draining any residual power before turning it back on.
Try unplugging the charger from the laptop and remove the battery for about 15 seconds before putting it back in. Then plug the charger back in and see if it turns on. It might reset things for you.
I did what you suggested, but when I put the battery back, a small rectangle on the motherboard lit up and smoke came out! Now my laptop won't turn on at all. Any other ideas?
