I just got my mom's laptop back from the repair guy, who was supposed to change the thermal paste and clean the fans. It's been ages since it was done—probably four or five years! I'm a bit tech-savvy but usually don't mess with hardware. When I opened the laptop to check the cleaning job, I noticed that there are two different RAM sticks inside. One is the one I bought a couple of years ago when I upgraded her from 4GB to 16GB, but the other one is unfamiliar to me. I even ran 'wmic memorychip list full' in the command prompt, and it showed two sticks from the same manufacturer with the same speed as the one I ordered. My question is: why do the RAM sticks look different on the back? Did I get scammed, or is there a reasonable explanation? Thanks for any help!

Since you've already checked inside, you might as well take both RAM sticks out and flip them around. Sometimes, they can just be in different orientations, which could explain the visual difference you're seeing. It doesn't necessarily mean something fishy is going on!
It’s possible that the repair guy used a different stick that matched the specifications but has a different design. As long as the specs are right, you probably didn't get ripped off. Just check if both RAM sticks are seated correctly.
