Hi everyone! I'm facing a problem with DiskGenius continuously detecting bad sectors on my hard drive while it's in the process of fixing them. It started with 260 bad sectors, and now there are 330. The software has been working on this for about 7 hours, and there's still 30% of the drive left to scan. I'm really worried—is this a sign of a bigger issue, and should I just let it keep running? Also, since this drive holds a lot of my editing assets, losing the data would be a huge setback. Is there any way I can recover my data? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're dealing with an HDD, a rise in bad sectors usually means your drive is failing. Bad sectors are basically parts of the disk that can't reliably store data anymore. Once a drive starts showing an increasing number of bad sectors, it's often on its way out. Continuing with the DiskGenius repair won't really fix it; it just designates those bad areas for the system to avoid. I highly recommend stopping the scan right now and backing up whatever data you can to another drive immediately. If your files are already stored in those bad sectors, they might be corrupted too.
What usually causes these bad sectors to appear?
Got it, I'm stopping the scan now! Thanks for the heads up.
