Do Deleting Files on One iPhone Affect Files on Another iPhone?

I have two iPhones—an 8 and a 13 Pro—and I'm wondering if deleting files on one of them will also delete the files on the other. They both use the same Apple ID, and I noticed that after deleting some files on the 8, they disappeared from the 13 Pro as well. I really don't want to factory reset the 8 if it's not necessary. Could the shared Apple ID and iCloud be the reason for this?

Yes, if your documents are stored on iCloud, deleting files on one of your iPhones will automatically delete them from the other. Since both iPhones are linked to the same Apple ID, that’s likely what happened.
