Do I Have to Replace Both UPS and EBM Batteries for My Eaton 9PX 6000i?

I have an Eaton 9PX 6000i that has a connected External Battery Module (EBM), and I've just received a notification saying 'End Battery Life.' My question is, does this message mean I need to replace batteries in both the UPS unit and the EBM? I've contacted Eaton, and they informed me that both batteries need replacement, but the EBM alone costs over £1,000. This seems overly expensive and drastic—do I really have to go about it this way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, it's generally recommended to replace all batteries at the same time—both the internal ones and the EBM's. Imagine having new batteries in the UPS but old ones in the EBM; you might not get the runtime you expect during a power outage. Plus, keeping track of different battery ages can be a hassle. It’s also worth considering the installation environment—if it’s warm, that can affect battery longevity. Shopping around for better battery prices is a good idea. If your UPS is getting old, you might want to consider switching to one of the newer lithium-ion models, which last a lot longer and usually better in general.

Thanks for the response! Just to add, we inherited this UPS about 2.5 years ago from a secondary school, and from what I know, they replaced the batteries about six months before we got it. We might have to look at more affordable options since that price is way above our budget.
