Do I Need a New Cooler for My 5700X3D Upgrade?

I'm planning to upgrade my CPU to a 5700X3D, but I'm not completely sure about the cooler situation since I got my current setup pre-built. I think I might be using the stock cooler that originally came with my Ryzen 5 3600. Here's what my build looks like right now:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- **CPU Cooler:** Likely Wraith Spire (the stock cooler from Ryzen 5 3600)
- **Motherboard:** ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac
- **RAM:** Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
- **Storage:** Crucial P2 1TB NVMe SSD
- **GPU:** Sapphire NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB
- **Case:** Phanteks P360A ATX Mid Tower
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM750 (750W, 80+ Gold)
- **Cooling/Fans:** 2x120mm front RGB intake fans, 1x120mm rear exhaust fan
Given all this, will I need to get a new cooler for the 5700X3D?

If you can swing it, a water cooler might be better, and you can find some decent models starting at around $50. Brands like be quiet! have options around $90.

A Peerless Assassin will work perfectly! Just remember to grab some thermal paste if you’re installing it yourself.

You should be fine with the stock cooler since the mounting mechanism is similar and the 5700X3D isn't a high wattage chip. If you're looking to upgrade, a Peerless Assassin 120 single tower cooler is a solid option at around $17.

Are you referring to the Assassin X model? If so, I totally agree with you on that one!

If you're outside the US, Deepcool has solid models too. I use the AK500 for my wife’s 7600 and the AK620 for my daughter’s 7800X3D, they work great! I once had the NH-D15 for my old 5900X, but it was a struggle taking out my GPU working with that setup.

I think a 4 pipe cooler should do the trick, but the stock cooler might struggle a bit with the 5700X3D. If your budget allows it, consider a 5 pipe cooler because the X3D chips don’t generate a ton of heat due to their lower clock speeds.
