Do I Need a Second EPS Connector for My Motherboard?

Hey everyone! I just got this MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI ATX motherboard as a gift for my build, and I'm running into a potential issue with my power supply. According to PCPartPicker, my EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3 doesn't have an available EPS 8-pin power connector, which is needed for supplying extra current. I'm wondering if I need to buy a specific cable or adapter to make this work. Is that second 8-pin connector really necessary for my setup? Should I consider getting a new power supply instead? Here's my build for context: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vzMKLc. Thanks for any help!

You won't need an adapter since your PSU only has one EPS cable slot. The second 8-pin connector isn't a must for your motherboard; it mainly depends on your CPU's current requirements. Since you're using an Intel i5, you should be just fine without it! As for getting a new PSU, that's not necessary. However, keep in mind that pairing your Z690 motherboard with a 14th gen CPU means you'll likely need to flash the BIOS before installing Windows. Just something to consider!
