I'm putting together a PC for a friend using some spare parts, but I've run into a little snag. My friend got these parts from someone who doesn't seem to know much about PC building. While I can fix most of the issues—like the weird fan placements and messy cables—I've noticed that the entire mounting bracket for the CPU socket is missing. Is it really necessary to have the bracket on for my build? I've built around 10 AM4 systems, but this is my first time dealing with AM5. I'm planning to use an Arctic Liquid Cooler III. Thanks for any help!

Hey! Yes, the CPU mounting bracket is pretty important. Without it, the CPU could move around, which could cause real issues once you try to secure the cooler. It sounds like you've got the Arctic brackets lined up, so make sure you definitely have that bracket in place before anything else. It’ll help keep everything stable!
Totally agree! I made the mistake of trying to run without a bracket once, and it was a nightmare. It’s just not worth the risk.
