I'm planning to upgrade my monitor to a 240Hz 4K OLED and want to make sure my PC can handle gaming at max settings. I often play games like Genshin Impact, Battlefield, GTA V, and Minecraft with shaders. My current specs are:

- Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus D4
- Intel i5 12400
- RTX 3050 8GB
- 32GB (4x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4

Do I need to upgrade my GPU to something with 12GB of VRAM or will my current setup suffice?

Honestly, just getting a 144Hz monitor might be a better idea with your current setup. You won't be able to play at 4K smoothly with those specs. You'd likely need to lower settings significantly to get any decent performance.

Exactly! To play at max settings with an RTX 3050, even 1080p would be pushing it, let alone 4K. Maybe aim for a 1440p display at lower settings instead.

Yup, unless you're upgrading the whole system, you’d likely end up disappointed trying to play 4K.

The RTX 3050 really isn't a 4K card, so you’re going to struggle to get decent frame rates at max settings.

You won’t get anywhere near max settings in 4K with your current specs. If you're serious about that, expect to invest quite a bit in new parts.

You might want to consider upgrading to an Intel i5-14600K and an RX 7900 XT. Also, have you thought about enabling XMP? Your RAM is currently running at 2133MHz, but you could probably boost it to at least 3000MHz.

With a 4K 240Hz monitor, your entire setup will bottleneck. The 3050 is essentially a 1080p card, so you’ll need upgrades to keep up at 4K.

Yes, you’ll definitely need a lot more power to hit those performance levels at 4K.

Yeah, to really enjoy 4K gaming at max settings, you’ll need to upgrade pretty much everything! Your current specs won't cut it for that resolution.
