Do I Need to Upgrade to M.2 SSD for Better Steam Download Speeds?

I built my PC and went for a 2.5" internal SSD from Western Digital, but I've been noticing some slowdowns with downloads and updates on Steam. After digging around, I think upgrading to an M.2 internal SSD, specifically the Western Digital SN850X, might be a better fit for my setup. Do you think this upgrade will help with my download speeds in Steam and make file transfers smoother? Here are my specs: I have a GeForce 3070 Ti, an Intel i9 11900K CPU, and an MSI Z-490A Pro motherboard.

The SN850X is an awesome choice and totally compatible with your motherboard! But honestly, if your download speeds are slow, there's a chance it's not just the SSD holding you back. It usually takes pretty significant performance issues with an SSD to affect download speeds that much. Maybe it's an internet connection issue rather than a hardware problem?

Thanks for the insight! I do have a 1TB internet plan, and everyone else in my house is getting decent speeds, like 300-500 Mbps on Steam, but I'm stuck around 20-50 Mbps. So I'm just trying to figure out where the slowdown is coming from.
