I'm trying to figure out how to properly connect my RTX 5090 graphic card. I heard that the adapter for this card connects in a specific way, going from 1 to 4 to 8. Does this really mean I have to use 8 slots in my power supply unit?

If your PSU comes with a native 12vhpwr cable, definitely use that one! But if it doesn’t, you should connect 4 PCIe 6+2 cables to your adapter. How you connect those might depend on whether you have cables with pigtails or not, which can affect how many slots you end up using.

Thanks a lot for clarifying! My power supply didn't have the 12vhpwr cable, just the 6+2 ones, so I guess I’ll be using those.
