Do I really need a fresh OS install for my new PC build?

I'm transitioning from an AMD 3900X and GeForce 3070 to a Ryzen 9800X3D and GeForce 5070TI, and I want to keep using my current SSD. My main concern is that I have a ton of Chrome and Firefox tabs open, and I'd like to stick with Windows 10 for now, waiting for Windows 12 release next year. Since I'm moving between Nvidia and AMD, I thought the drivers wouldn't vary much. Should I really do a clean install, or can I just carry on as is?

I like doing a clean install to avoid the buildup of unnecessary junk on my system. You could think of it like starting fresh - just remember to backup anything important before wiping the slate clean.

Remember to check that your new RAM is compatible with the Ryzen 9800X3D as well! I'm getting new RAM and a motherboard too for my upcoming upgrade.

A fresh install isn't mandatory, but it's generally recommended. This way, you can ensure everything runs smoothly without leftover issues from your old setup.

You'll probably be just fine! I've swapped hardware a few times, and even moved Windows to a system that didn’t officially support it. Just be prepared—you might need a new Windows 10 key if there's a problem with activation.

If your main worry is the browser tabs, just save them under a bookmark folder—everything will sync once you log into your Google account on the new setup. A fresh install is typically the best route, especially if you're just moving a few tabs.
