I'm building a PC with an i7 265k processor and the salesman insists that I need an AIO cooler because the normal air coolers won't manage the heat. Is there any truth to what he's saying?

If you plan on pushing your CPU, it may help, but for general use, it's not a necessity at all. I've used air coolers with the same CPU and they're more than capable.

Exactly! Custom water setups are a different story, but for regular use, air coolers like the Noctua DH-15 are fantastic options.

Yeah, as long as you’re not consistently maxing out the processor, an air cooler will keep things chill.

Honestly, that salesman doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A good air cooler will work just fine — they're usually quieter, last longer, and can cool just as well as AIOs in most cases. If you're not overclocking a lot, save your money and go for a high-quality air cooler instead.

Totally agree! If you're just looking to run things smoothly without pushing the CPU too hard, a solid air cooler like a Be Quiet! model is perfect. Plus, they look great and perform really well.

Exactly! I have a Noctua NH-D15 and it outperforms my old AIO. Unless you’re planning on heavy overclocking, you don't need to stress about liquid cooling.

Pretty much nobody really needs an AIO unless you're going for a specific aesthetic or need to save space on the motherboard. A good air cooler should do the trick for your build.

Thanks for the input! Sounds like I should definitely consider a good air cooler instead. Appreciate everyone’s advice!

Nope, you don’t need an AIO. Air coolers do an excellent job, and many can handle the i7 265k without issue. I’m currently using a dual-tower air cooler and have no complaints.

Right! A dual tower cooler like the Thermalright PA120 should handle it perfectly.

Plus, air coolers are often cheaper and low maintenance — definitely a win in my book!
