Do I Really Need to Upgrade to Pro Max Because of Message Limits?

I just got Claude Pro but now the app says I've hit my free message limit and suggests I upgrade to Pro Max. Does this just mean I've reached the message cap for my current plan? I'm not planning to upgrade to Max, but I was hoping for a better performance from Claude today. I experienced multiple hangs and had to repeat my questions a few times. Plus, the analysis didn't feel as good as what I'd gotten before. For reference, I used version 4.0 today, while I've used 3.7 in the past.

It sounds like you might have just hit the limit for your current plan. If you’re seeing prompts to upgrade, it's typically because of this cap. You should definitely reach out to Anthropic Support about your account status, especially if you’re running into performance issues.

I don’t use Discord, so it wasn't me. I’ll contact Anthropic with all the details I can gather.

Have you been using Opus? It tends to consume a lot more credits than you might expect, so that could explain your limit being reached quicker than before.

Oh, that could be it. I did use Opus once this morning, but it was acting up.

There was a similar issue with Perplexity AI before—it was just a temporary software glitch that they fixed after a few hours. It could be that Claude is experiencing something similar, or like others mentioned, Opus might be to blame for higher usage.
