I'm using Fedora Kinoite, and when I try to install apps from Discover, I don't see an option to choose a different partition. Is it possible to install programs elsewhere, or is it just a matter of where the OS allows it? Does it make a difference if the program is not a Flatpak?

Typically, programs will install to the same partition as your OS because that’s where they have permission and are expected to reside. If you're downloading through Discover, you might not be given the option to specify an install location. But if you compile a program from source, you could choose a different location.
If I do install on a different partition, will it affect performance? Is it better to stick with the default location?
