I recently blocked my ex-boyfriend after a tough night. We had our locations shared, but when I blocked him, I noticed that my location stopped sharing with him, and shortly after, his location stopped sharing too. I thought his location would still be visible to me until he turned it off manually. Does blocking someone automatically stop both people's location sharing, or did he turn his off after I blocked him?

From what I know about how location sharing works, when one person blocks the other, it doesn't mean that the other person's sharing stops. So, your instinct was correct! He would need to take action to stop sharing his location, which is probably what happened after you blocked him.
When you block someone in a mutual location-sharing setup, it typically just stops sharing your location with them. It doesn't automatically stop them from sharing their location, so he likely saw that you blocked him and chose to turn his off too. It seems like he was aware of what was happening and responded accordingly.
