I'm a Plus user of ChatGPT and I'm curious if Claude has any kind of memory that carries over between different conversations. I mainly use ChatGPT for emotional support, but lately, it seems to be overly flattering and just agrees with everything I say. I tried Claude recently and found its responses to be more objective and fair. Does Claude retain information between chats or is it just for the current conversation?

Claude doesn't have memory that sticks around between conversations. It keeps track of context during a single chat, but once you start a new one, it's like a blank slate. Just keep in mind that the application you're using might have some features that feel like memory—like retaining some previous context—but those don’t really count as memory. So no leaks between different chats!
Actually, while Claude itself doesn’t remember past chats, there are some features that let you store personal preferences in a project if you've got a paid plan. You can upload documents and writing samples for it to consider in conversations. Just remember, Claude won’t recall anything on its own—it’s all about how you set it up!
I have a paid plan too, but I find it tricky to get Claude to notice the documents I've uploaded in my project. I’m probably missing something, but it just doesn’t seem to take them into account when I ask.
