Does experience as a system administrator help with becoming a Salesforce Administrator?

I've worked as a system administrator in a Windows environment, handling tools like Hyper-V, SCCM, Solarwinds, Active Directory, Entra ID Azure, and Vmware. I've noticed the roles of Salesforce administrators and they seem somewhat similar to mine. Can anyone share insights on whether my experience would be beneficial in transitioning to a Salesforce Administrator role?

From my experience, Salesforce and system administration require totally different skill sets. I worked closely with a Salesforce Admin and we struggled to understand each other's roles.

That's interesting to hear. It seems like the focus areas are just too different.

Honestly, I don't think the skills you've listed are necessary for a Salesforce Admin. They usually just call in someone with your kind of expertise when they need technical help.

Yeah, I kind of agree. Salesforce is more about managing the application and user needs rather than the hardware and infrastructure stuff.
