I've been experiencing significant ping spikes while gaming on my laptop, with the ping going up at least once a minute. It's definitely not an internet issue since this is the only device giving me problems. I've heard that S0 modern standby might be slowing down my laptop's WiFi adapter. Is that true? My WLAN report indicates a capability change, which adds to my confusion.

It’s unlikely that S0 modern standby is causing your ping spikes. S0 mode only activates when your monitor is off and gradually reduces power until it goes into full low power mode. You might want to check your power settings for the wireless adapter. Try setting it to "maximum performance." Also, consider whether you notice this issue while plugged in or on battery; using battery power can trigger more aggressive power-saving features. In some cases, if your AC adapter and battery can’t provide enough power, it might impact your gaming performance too.
I’ve set my power plan to maximum performance, and this happens whether I'm plugged in or on battery. It used to disconnect completely, but now it just lags.
