Hey everyone, I recently installed a new power supply and a 5090 graphics card into my PC. I heard a click when I inserted the GPU, but later, I discovered that the locking tab had broken into pieces. I'm wondering if this tab needs to be locked for the PC to recognize the GPU, or is it just there to hold it in place? The card lights up properly, but I'm getting no display. I've already ordered a new motherboard and CPU, which is frustrating because I really didn't want to go through all that setup again. Thanks for any insights and sorry for the long post!

Was this your first time booting after the installation?
From what I know, the tab is just a safety feature. If everything is plugged in correctly, your GPU should run fine. Have you tried plugging your monitor directly into the GPU's HDMI? You might just need to install some drivers after switching components.
That locking clip is really just there to keep the GPU secure in its slot. If the card is fully seated, it should still work without it. Something else might be causing the display issue. Don't panic!
Totally agree! I've been GPU-less for a while because my locking tab vanished, and my setup still functions perfectly.
Yeah, I was worried I'd have to start fresh since I'm changing motherboards and CPUs. I'll try using my existing C drive in the new setup and do some driver installations, and if that fails, I have a new SSD ready to go. At least my 7800x3D has onboard graphics so I can still use my PC for now.
