I'm curious about how password expiration works on a Windows 11 machine that's joined to Azure. Specifically, will the system prompt users to change their password when it expires? I'm aware that Azure has its policies, but do users get reminded to change their passwords before they expire, or are they just locked out?

I get why some orgs might still enforce password expiration, but Azure's approach is different from the old Active Directory. With AD, users usually received plenty of reminders before they had to change their passwords. In Azure, it seems like the reminders are less frequent, which can lead to people getting locked out if they forget to change their password before it expires.
Yeah, Windows 11 should prompt you to change your password when it expires. But there’s a catch: if you've already acknowledged a prompt elsewhere, like on your phone or through other means, it might not remind you on your PC. This is especially true if you use a PIN or Windows Hello, which can skip that reminder process altogether. Just something to be aware of!
So basically, there's a chance you won't get a reminder on the PC then, right? That's kind of risky!
Yeah, that sounds frustrating! You'd think Azure would have similar reminders as AD did.
