Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a 5070ti GPU and while it's performing well, I'm encountering some strange FPS issues. I'm playing Resident Evil 9, and in darker sections of the game, I get about 110-120 FPS at 1440p with path tracing on, with the GPU utilization sitting at around 90-85%. However, when I move to well-lit areas, especially outdoors, my FPS drops significantly to 60-70, and I can literally stand still at 120 FPS, then take a couple of steps and see my FPS drop to 70 with GPU usage dropping from 99% to about 68%. My CPU usage hovers around 70-85%, which has me puzzled. I expected high GPU usage in bright areas but it seems to fall instead. I suspect there might be a CPU bottleneck, but it's not maxed out. I'm using driver version 591.86 and here are my specs: 5800X, 5070ti, Gen 4 NVME, and 32GB DDR4 at 3200MTs. Any thoughts on what's going on? Thanks!

You can definitely experience a CPU bottleneck even if your CPU isn’t maxed out at 100%. Since your CPU has 8 cores and 16 threads, it only needs a couple of them to be at high usage to still create a bottleneck for specific processes like gaming. Given that ray tracing and path tracing require a lot of CPU power, I think you're probably facing a CPU bottleneck here.

Thanks for the quick reply! I would love for you to be right—it's a much easier fix if it is. However, I’m using overlays, and none of my cores are going above 85% according to RTSS. Could I still be experiencing some form of bottleneck?
