Experiencing Low FPS in Games on Linux Mint, Need Help!

Hey everyone! I just installed Linux Mint "Zara" with the Cinnamon desktop and it's been a bit of a journey. Initially, I had issues with my graphics drivers which resulted in no signal from my display port, so I ended up reinstalling a couple of times. After figuring things out, I got to the desktop, updated my kernel, and made sure to install the Nvidia drivers along with apps like Discord, Steam, and Spotify. But here's the kicker: when I launched my games, I noticed I was getting half the FPS compared to running them on Windows. I checked that my dedicated GPU was being used instead of the integrated one and tried a few suggestions from chatgpt, including adjusting Steam launch options, but nothing seems to work. Any advice out there? If this keeps up, I might just stick with Windows!

First off, don’t get discouraged! When it comes to gaming on Linux, not every title is optimized perfectly. It might help to check how the specific games you're interested in perform on Linux. I've found that while a lot of games are said to work on Steam, the compatibility isn’t always as good as it seems. Nvidia support on Linux can be tricky too, so you might not get 100% performance. Just to keep it real, a lot of online games with anti-cheat systems might not even run properly. Good luck!

I hear you! I tried Marvel Rivals, and while it shows A compatibility on ProtonDB, I'm still experiencing FPS drops. On Windows, I cap it at 360 FPS and it holds up well, but on Linux, it’s fluctuating around 150. Definitely a noticeable difference with my 360Hz monitor!
