Experiencing Screen Blackouts and Audio Issues on New PC – Should I Return It?

I recently purchased a new computer and when I turned it on for the first time, I noticed there was protective wrap on the glass. Concerned about that, I powered it down, which may have been a mistake. After turning it back on, I ended up in the BIOS but everything seemed fine. However, I started encountering problems with audio in games – for example, I could only hear my footsteps in a shooter and had trouble hearing things behind me in another game. I managed to resolve some audio issues by changing the settings, but then I noticed that AMD FreeSync wasn't functioning properly, causing frame stutters. While switching between monitors, my audio glitched, the screens went black, and I got an AMD driver timeout notification, which I couldn't fully view because the screen kept going black when I tried to click it. After restarting, I restored some corrupt files via command prompt. I'm not overheating and the games run smoothly otherwise. Am I overlooking something? Should I return the computer?

It sounds like you might just need to restore and update your PC before making any decisions. Sometimes bugs can be cleared up with a good reset. Make sure all your drivers are updated and run some troubleshooting tools before thinking about a return.

I recommend taking it back to the store and having a technician check it out. Share your issues and see if they can genuinely fix it. Trust me, I've gone through a lot trying to get my PC sorted out, and it's been frustrating when they just don’t address the problems. If it doesn't work after their so-called 'fix,' returning it is the way to go.

Since I restored the corrupt files, I'm hoping that was the issue. If it happens again, I’ll find a more permanent fix. Do you think I broke something based on what I described?
