Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on my upcoming upgrade build. I'm planning to replace my CPU and GPU to achieve the best gaming performance possible. Specifically, I'm eyeing a Ryzen 7 5700X3D paired with an RX 9070 XT. I'm a 1440p gamer and want to run games at maximum settings smoothly.
Here's my current setup for reference:
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming
- RAM: 4x 8gb G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 CL16
- CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S
- Storage: 500GB SSD + 1TB M.2 + 2x 500GB HDD
- Case: NZXT H7 Flow with NZXT F360 unibody fans along with some extra case fans.
Additionally, I'd love to get recommendations on what wattage and type of PSU I should be looking at, especially with headroom for future upgrades and cooling. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!

You'll generally want to go by the GPU's requirements for the PSU. For the RX 9070 XT, I’d suggest a minimum of 850W, but ideally 1000W for even more stability and headroom. It's a high-performance setup, so going with a reliable, high-quality PSU is key. Better to have a little extra power than to risk issues later!
See, that’s where I get confused! Most PSU calculators suggest similar numbers, but then some people say 800W is fine. But I suppose having 1000W can’t hurt, right?
