Feeling Accused of Cheating with AI: What Should I Do?

I'm really frustrated and need some advice. I had to write a short essay for my college English class, but my professor accused me of using AI because my essay got flagged by a plagiarism detection tool. The essay was only nine sentences long and included two sources, and honestly, I've worked really hard on it since I graduated from high school a decade ago, and my writing skills are a bit rusty. We had a lengthy discussion about this, and although he seemed to believe me when I said I didn't use AI, he still found some grammatical mistakes and decided to deduct points from my score. I ended up with a 92 after accepting the deduction. However, now I'm really anxious about continuing the course because I fear being flagged again. How can I make sure this doesn't happen in the future? I'm also curious if my earlier research might be influencing my writing, and what I should do to continue improving my skills. By the way, we aren't allowed to use tools like Grammarly, but we can use Microsoft Word's suggestions. I currently have a good grade in the class since I did some extra credit work before it started, and we're only in the second week.

Honestly, don’t let it get to you too much. AI tools are getting better at mimicking human writing, but that just means that professors really need to update their approach to teaching. You got a great score, and that's what matters in the long run! Focus on improving your writing skills rather than stressing over what your professor thinks. It’s healthier to just shrug it off and keep moving forward!
