I recently got promoted to SysAdmin after spending a few years in help desk support, and I was initially really excited about the new responsibilities. However, now that I'm in the role, I feel completely overwhelmed. I've been tasked with redoing the foundation for our Windows 11 configuration profiles and implementing Microsoft Defender across our systems. Although I've done some basic scripting before, this feels like a massive undertaking, and I'm struggling to absorb all the guides I've been reading. I'm starting to question what's wrong with me and why I don't feel as happy as I thought I would be when moving away from end-user services. Am I alone in feeling this way?
