Hey everyone,I'm a Level 1 tech and my company just tasked me with configuring a new Microsoft 365 tenant for a client. I've set up the tenant and logged in as the admin, but I'm feeling a little lost. I've worked with parts of the admin center before, like basic user management and licensing from my helpdesk experience, but there are so many areas I haven't explored much, such as Security, Compliance, and Entra. I'm really concerned that I might overlook something critical that could expose the client to security risks. I'm used to Google Admin, which is pretty straightforward, but I need some guidance on properly setting up a 365 tenant, especially regarding security. Do you have any good guides, checklists, videos, or tips to help me get up to speed? I'd really appreciate any support!

Honestly, it seems a bit odd for a Level 1 tech to take on this task. Setting up a tenant involves not just knowing how to do it, but understanding why each step is important. I've been managing 365 for over a decade, and I still find new things to learn, especially with the ever-changing security features and UI. Just remember, it's a big responsibility!
Yeah, Microsoft does love to shake things up! Just be flexible and ready to adapt as you learn!
You might want to check out this series on securing Microsoft Business Premium. It's not fully finished yet, but it has some great advice to get you started! Also, if you work for an MSP, see if they have any setup templates for reference.
True, but I see this as a great opportunity for the OP to learn. They should definitely dive into some resources online and show some initiative—it could help them progress in their career! Also, MS's constant UI changes can be a real headache!
