I'm diving back into PC gaming after a long break, mainly to enjoy RTS games like Tempest Rising and Stormgate. I'm planning a budget build and aiming for 1080p gaming at around 60fps. Here's my current parts list:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor - $135
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Assassin King SE ARGB - $20
- **Motherboard:** MSI B550 GAMING GEN3 ATX AM4 - $110
- **Memory (RAM):** Silicon Power GAMING 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 - $30
- **Storage (SSD):** TEAMGROUP MP44L 1 TB M.2-2280 PCle 4.0 NVME - $57
- **Graphics Card (GPU):** AMD Radeon RX 7600 8GB - $279
- **Case:** Thermaltake Versa H17 - $54
- **Power Supply (PSU):** Thermaltake Smart 700W - $54
- **Operating System:** Windows 11 (64-bit)

Total cost is around $739. Do you think I can cut costs without sacrificing performance?

For nearly $800, sticking with AM4 is questionable. It's an older platform and you're likely to hit a wall with compatibility in the future. Go for that AM5 setup and grab the cheapest B650 motherboard you can find. You could also look into the Intel Arc B580, which is often cheaper and even offers 12 GB of VRAM. Just make sure to ditch that power supply!

I really appreciate that info. I see a lot of pre-builts out there and I thought my specs might be cheaper. I’ll definitely check out those other options.

Your build looks a bit pricey for a new AM4 setup. You might even want to explore a budget AM5 option instead, like the 7500F. It'll be more future-proof and easier to upgrade later on. Also, consider a cheaper B650 motherboard if you're trying to save money!

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the 7500F!

If you get the Ryzen 5600 and the MSI B550 used, you could save around $120. That extra cash could go to a more reliable PSU. Plus, look into getting 2x16 GB RAM instead of 2x8 GB for about the same price. Just saying, used parts can be a great way to stretch your budget!

I definitely see that as an option. I just started looking at used parts, and I think I’ll go the AM5 route based on another comment.

I see you have a potential issue with the power supply. That Thermaltake Smart 700W isn't the best choice. You might want to consider swapping it for an MSI MAG A650BN for better reliability. It’ll make a difference in the long run!

Do you see any other tweaks I should make?
