Fixing Time Reset Issues After CMOS Battery Removal

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 9 and updated my BIOS to F60, and everything seems to be running smoothly. However, I'm having a problem with my PC. When I power it off at the plug and then turn it back on, instead of starting up right away, the screens flicker and it takes about a minute to power on. After doing some research, I came across the suggestion to remove the CMOS battery for about five minutes and then put it back in. Since I did that, now my PC's time resets to 00:00 every time I power it off and back on. I've tried removing and reinserting the battery, even replaced it with a new one, and I've reset the BIOS settings to default, but nothing has worked. The slow startup issue is still there as well. Apart from that, the PC is great! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like there might be an issue with the CMOS battery contacts. Make sure they're clean and properly connected. Also, have you tried reflashing the BIOS? Sometimes downgrading can help if the new update has bugs. Just a thought!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the contacts and see if reflashing helps.

After removing the CMOS battery, did you try resetting the settings in the BIOS? Sometimes, just restoring defaults can fix these kinds of issues. If the time keeps resetting to 00:00, it could indicate that the CMOS chip is faulty.

That flickering sound seems like a POST issue. You're right; it should ideally boot up faster. Have you noticed if anything specific happens before the flickering? You might also want to run some diagnostics about your hardware to rule out other problems.
