Hey folks! I recently bought a OnePlus 7 Pro that was advertised as brand new from Amazon. The packaging seemed fine and everything looked normal. I know the model is a bit older (from around 2019), but I expected it to be new. So, I just powered it on to check out the camera before connecting to the internet or installing any apps. To my surprise, I found eleven photos from 2020 in the gallery! They include some selfies, a few videos of someone whistling, and pictures of phones stacked on a desk along with some other guy from the office. It seems like someone was testing the camera on this phone. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Should I return it? Does this mean it was a refurbished phone sold as new? I'm cool with refurbished stuff, but I'm not sure what this all means for me and whether I should keep it. Thanks for your input!

Here’s a link to the gallery contents. It clearly shows the photos: https://preview.redd.it/h37cig3s0vif1.jpeg?width=946&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07a2c35d91e35e95a5f5efdfd76cc3280b228531. Look closely at the images for any more clues.
It’s likely from a refurbishing center. Since you found a stack of devices in one of the photos, it’s worth investigating further. If you paid full price for a new phone and you can return it, that’s probably your best bet.
Those pictures probably came from the factory where the phone was built or refurbished. It’s not uncommon to find leftover content from pre-owned devices if they’ve been tested before. I'd double-check the photos for any identifiable logos or brands that might hint at where they came from.
Got it! So, if it was made there and just sold as new, it could still be legit, right?
I had a weird experience too where random photos appeared on my phone, but it was syncing issues with my Google Photos due to a developer's mistake. They were unrelated pics, but in your case, since the phone wasn’t even online yet, it sounds like something different. Your situation is intriguing!
That’s interesting! I thought of that too initially, but since the phone was offline, it must be different. Your experience sounds wild!
Thanks for the advice! I’ll see about returning it.
