Frequent Crashes on Windows 10 – Possible GPU Driver Issues?

Hey everyone! I've been having this annoying issue with my Windows 10 PC where it crashes about once or twice a day, usually when I'm playing videos or games. The screen just goes blank, often showing solid colors like green or purple, but it doesn't trigger a BSOD. I've checked the Event Viewer and didn't see any critical failures, but I do notice errors related to Nvlddmkm Event 13 and Event 153, along with DCOM 1084 errors during crashes. After the first crash, my PC gets stuck in a crash loop, and I can only get it to work again by going into Safe Mode and uninstalling the monitor from Device Manager. Once I remove it, things stabilize for a bit. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how I might fix it?

I’m not totally sure about the other two errors, but I recently dealt with Event 153 on my PC. It turned out to be an unstable undervolt I had applied to my GPU. Once I adjusted the undervolt settings, the issues stopped. You might want to check whether you have any undervolting or underclocking applied to your GPU. If you do, it might be worth fiddling with those settings.

I don't undervolt my GPU, but I do underclock it since I noticed it helps reduce the crashes. Did you have any issues running stock settings, or was it the undervolting that really fixed the problem for you?

It sounds like the problem might be related to your GPU driver rather than the monitor itself. The nvlddmkm errors you mentioned are typically NVIDIA driver crashes, and that’s why your setup works temporarily after uninstalling the display device in Safe Mode.

I suggest using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode to completely remove your NVIDIA drivers, then reinstall the latest drivers directly from Nvidia’s website instead of using Windows Update. Also, check your GPU temperatures and power supply while gaming because overheating or faulty VRAM could be causing those screen crashes. If it keeps happening, it might point to a failing GPU or PSU.

I always go for DDU and a clean install whenever I update my Nvidia drivers. Right now I'm on driver version 576 since it’s been the most stable for me. This crashing problem has been ongoing for a while, but lately, it's been getting worse, going from once-a-week crashes to about two a day. My temps are stable around 67C during regular usage, so I'm not sure what else it could be.
