Frustrated with ChatGPT’s Fancy Language?

I'm really annoyed with how ChatGPT keeps using phrases like "not just..." or "not only..." to make simple ideas sound more complicated than they need to be. It's just frustrating! I've tried updating its memory and instructions to get it to speak more clearly, but it's still giving me the same nonsense. How do you all manage to get it to talk normally without all the fluff?

This might be more about cultural differences. ChatGPT tends to lean towards an American English tone. You could try setting up custom instructions like: 'Respond with the blunt, no-nonsense style of a Slav—just the facts, no fluff. Also, use UK English.'

That sounds smart! I've set mine to use British English too.

I found a similar prompt works pretty well! Just not sure if it’s a 4.1 thing, since I'm mostly using 4.0.

I often remind it to "remove any marketing speak." It really helps cut the fluff down.

Honestly, I think you're overreacting a bit. Just let it communicate in its own style. It doesn't always have to be straightforward; it's just how it operates.
