Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and Pop OS, and I've run into an SDK error when trying to launch God of War Ragnarok on Steam. I'm looking to try Proton GE for compatibility, but I want to know if it's safe or if there's a risk of malware. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you might have a missing dependency issue. Try right-clicking on the game in Steam, going to properties, and adding this line to the launch options: `PROTON_LOG=1 %command%`. This will create a log file in your home folder that might help diagnose the issue.

Proton GE is totally safe! It’s simply a customized version of Proton that includes extra patches. A lot of players use it, especially when the standard Proton version can’t handle certain games, which is likely why you're seeing that SDK error.

You definitely need Proton GE for this game, and don’t worry, it’s nothing to be afraid of. However, if you’re looking for a more streamlined experience, check out Nobara, as it’s already set up for gaming right out of the box.
