Getting Started with Linux: Dual Booting or Not?

Hey everyone! I've been thinking about making the switch from Windows to Linux for quite some time. After doing some research on what software and games I usually use, I'm ready to take the plunge and install Linux. However, I'm a total beginner and would like to keep Windows on my PC. I have a total of four drives: one SSD, one HDD, and two NVMe drives. Currently, Windows is on one of the NVMe drives, and the other NVMe has my software and games. I'm considering installing Linux on the SSD to try it out. Is this considered dual booting? Is it normal to install it this way? Should I look up tutorials for dual booting? By the way, I'm thinking about using either Linux Mint or Bazzite for my install.

Yes, this is indeed dual booting! It's a really common setup. I recommend reading the installation documentation for Mint or Bazzite as they usually have specific guides for dual booting. Watching videos can help too, but sometimes it's easier to have a text guide you can follow step by step. Good luck! 👍

Thanks a lot! I’ll definitely check out the documentation!

You can actually install it on the same SSD as Windows if you prefer, and it’ll still let you dual boot. Just remember to set up your bootloader correctly, like GRUB, to choose which OS you want to load when you start your computer.

So I just use GRUB to select the OS at boot? Got it!
