Hey everyone! I'm super excited to be picking up my new gaming PC from Microcenter later today! It's been a while since I've built a PC, so I'd love to hear any general tips or tricks you might have for a day 1 checklist. Things like enabling XMP, ensuring the BIOS and drivers are updated, and any other must-dos would be great. Thanks a lot! You can check out my PC build here: [link to parts].

You can undervolt your GPU using MSI Afterburner pretty effectively. Set the curve to +500MHz and drop the voltage to 900mV. If you run into crashes while gaming (which I doubt), you can always knock it down to +450MHz.
One tip from my last experience: if it doesn’t boot up right away, don’t panic! Try assembling it outside the case to check for any issues. I had a case fan connected to the PSU instead of the motherboard, and fixing that solved my boot problem. Also, I hope you considered getting Windows 11 for a better price, but it’s too late now. That’s a nice build you got there with the 5080 for $1500! I just got a 5070ti for $824 myself.

Thanks! I’m curious, though, what are the main benefits of undervolting?
