I just installed the August 2025 Cumulative Update (KB5063889) for Server 2022, and it took a whopping 4 hours to install! I had another server with the same setup, and it took just as long. For comparison, the equivalent update for Server 2019 only took about 10-15 minutes. Has anyone else faced similar delays, or did anyone manage to install it quicker? Just to clarify, I meant to refer to KB5063880 in the title, but I can't edit it here.

It might be worth checking the CBS log files to pinpoint where the installation is taking the longest. That could give you some clues about what's causing the delays.
I took a snapshot before the patch and it still took me around 2 hours. A lot of that was just waiting for it to reboot and finally log me in. I've noticed similar slowdowns on domain controllers too, and all my server hardware is pretty new.
Did you mean KB5063880? Just checking because I noticed the typo in your post.
Yes, that was my mistake! I can't edit the title now.
This kind of thing seems to happen every couple of patch Tuesdays for different OS versions. I've learned to focus on redundancy rather than speed; there's no point in having a fast machine if it's down for hours due to an update. It's better to stagger updates over redundant systems, even if it takes longer overall.
Since I'm setting up a new VDI image, I was keeping an eye on the installation time. Once I have that set, it won’t matter too much because the rollout will go smoothly without downtime for users.
For me, 4 hours was just the installation process before the reboot. I didn’t even check how long the reboot took.
