Has anyone else noticed increased RAM usage after the recent security update?

I've been monitoring our devices, and since the latest security patch, we've been getting alerts about unusually high RAM usage. For example, there's a new Dell desktop PC that was set up just 10 days ago but hasn't even been deployed yet. We restarted it on the 17th, hoping that would help, but the alarms went off again within a few hours. The process causing the issue appears to be ServiceShell. I'm looking for insights into what might be happening before we roll out this patch to our production devices.

I think it might be related to some sort of recall feature being turned on after the patch. It can really ramp up the resource demands without any apparent reason. Have you looked into that?

I totally get your frustration! I'm stuck with Windows 11 on 16 GB RAM, and I often have to shut down almost everything just to keep it running smoothly. It's crazy how much memory is consumed by just a couple of apps. Like, when I run Outlook, Teams, and Chrome, my idle memory usage can shoot up to 10 GB, and next thing you know, I’m paging to my NVME drive, which is obviously slower. It’s a mess! I had to prove to my manager that I need more RAM because of these performance drops.

Could definitely be the issue with the copilots. They can really hog resources if multiple apps are trying to use them at once.

Same here! My Chrome's been going nuts; I'm seeing 80% usage on my 32 GB machine. I keep a million tabs open, though, so that could be part of the problem. Still, it shouldn’t be that big of an issue, right?

Just out of curiosity, what's the available memory showing in Task Manager? That might give us more clues about what's eating your RAM.
