Has anyone lost a folder after upgrading to Windows 11?

I have a folder on a secondary drive that I wanted to share again because the upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 removed my shares. In the folder properties, I added everyone as read-only and set myself as read/write, just like I've always done since XP. After applying those settings, the folder completely vanished. It's not showing on my drive anymore, I've run chkdsk and power shell recursive searches, and it's not in the recycle bin either. I'm really confused about how this could happen. Is it a bug, or is something else going on?

If you've made changes to BIOS settings or your disk setup, that could lead to losing data. Always check your backups before doing anything major with your PC.

Why not just restore it from your backups? That’s the simplest fix.

That doesn’t really explain why it disappeared in the first place, and I want to avoid this from happening again.
