Has anyone successfully gamed on Fedora with a GTX 1070?

I'm using a GTX 1070 and have been running Fedora with KDE for about a month now. I really enjoy it more than Windows overall. I've installed the official NVIDIA drivers through the terminal, but I haven't actually played any games on Fedora yet. I'm mostly interested in low poly 3D or 2D games, but I wouldn't mind trying out some more demanding AA and AAA titles from the past seven years. All the games I have in mind ran great on Windows, so I'm curious to know if I might run into any issues on Fedora compared to my experience with Windows.

When running Windows games through Proton, you might notice about a 5 FPS drop compared to playing on Windows, but it really depends on how well the game is supported by Proton. Just so you know, games with anti-cheat systems typically won't work, but if you're sticking to titles without those, you should be good! In some cases, I actually get up to 20% more FPS on Proton than on Windows, so results can vary.

That's good to know! I also avoid games with anti-cheat, so I should be in the clear.

Interesting! I might have to try it out then.

For any specific issues or compatibility questions, check out ProtonDB.com. It's a great resource that can tell you how well a game runs on Proton and gives potential fixes if there are problems.

Always a good idea to mention your distro and hardware specs when asking for tech help! Just a tip for future questions.
